Darlene Miller, CEO and president, wants to increase Permac Industries’ business from medical companies to more than 25 percent in the next year or two, up from under 10 percent now.
To reach the goal, she has started an association to bring manufacturers of medical products and their creators together. Permac of Burnsville makes precision machined parts for customers in many industries. With local consultant Rich Daly, she started Minnesota Valley Medical Network Association, and held a kick-off seminar Oct. 31. “We sent out newsletters to everyone we knew. Twenty-five companies showed up; our goal was 15. Some joined.” At the seminar, the FDA came in to talk about the approval process for medical devices. A networking event was scheduled for Jan. 23, with more seminars planned later in the year. Miller is the president of the organization and holds meetings at Permac headquarters. The city of Burnsville and the local chamber of commerce are involved. “I think it’s going to be an important part of our marketing. It gives us more credibility and makes us more full service,” Miller says about the association. “The credibility is greater than just showing up and knocking on doors” of potential clients.
